We bought a house. I am so excited to finally share this news with you. It was so timely for our offer to go through just before the property market skyrocketed. Buying a house in Denmark was not the easiest thing for us especially because I still hold a temporary resident permit which made it a challenge to secure a mortgage. This however, did not stop us from going to view open houses every weekend.
We had done our own internal calculations based on our incomes at the time and this helped us filter different areas within our price range. Even though we started from the high end, it gave us ideas of what we were looking for in a house. Additionally, the pandemic pushed us further to look for a house with more space and outdoors for our growing kids.
Our two and half year search came to an end in November. We signed the purchase papers while on vacation in Malindi and we still couldn’t wrap our minds around it. Just before we got the keys, our bank advisor was changed and this gave us butterflies, crossing fingers that my residence status will not be barrier. When we got the keys to the house on 1st of March 2022, it was so surreal. Our little growing family are home owners now.
As exciting as this sounds, we still a lot of work renovating ahead of us. We finally moved in on 1st of April after selling our former not so small apartment in Copenhagen. As I do not want to bore you with so much text on this little update, I will share our renovation plan in the next post. For now I will leave you with a tour of our new house.
The bathroom is a really good size and functional
Thank you for being here. Wishing you so much love and happiness.
